The Town of Wenham has received grant funds from the State's Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council to audit and revise its Regulations including Zoning Bylaws, Rules and Regulations Governing the Subdivision of Land, Stormwater Regulations, Water Resource Protection Bylaw and General Bylaws to ensure that they exhibit current best management practices and the Commonwealth’s standards for climate resiliency.
Most of the Town’s development regulations date from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s, with intermittent additions and updates since their adoption. These regulations are not internally consistent, and they do not mandate low impact building and site design techniques that could mitigate climate change impacts. The Town will take a fresh look at all of its development regulations together, add new resiliency standards, update and add definitions, offer illustrative examples, and apply appropriate cross-referencing for consistency.
The Town has contracted with Weston and Sampson to manage the project.
