Today, March 23, 2020, the Governor issued a “stay-home” advisory and an order that requires the closure of workplaces and prohibits gatherings of more than 10 people. While there are some exemptions, the Governor has cited those exemptions. Under the “Public Works” category, the Governor cited “Workers such as plumbers, electricians, exterminators, inspectors and other service providers who provide services that are necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences, construction sites and projects, and needed facilities.” To that effect, the Town of Wenham has already been closed for business to the public and by Tuesday, March 24 at noon, the Permitting Office operations will be done remotely. We will continue to process permits and inspect projects that fit the Governor’s definition and are “necessary to maintaining the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences, construction sites and projects, and needed facilities.” All other projects that do not meet that definition should be postponed.
Please continue to check the Town of Wenham website, including the homepage and the Board of Health for resources from the Department of Public Health and CDC.
