HOT TOPIC: 2024 Dog Licenses
Wenham loves its dogs, but they do need a current license and quite a few do not yet have them! Please check to see if your pup has a 2024 tag. You can complete the application and pay online here or complete this fillable form and return to the Wenham Town Clerk ASAP with a check or cash. The fee is $15 for neutered dogs and $20 for intact dogs. If you are age 70+, there is no fee to register up to three dogs! If we do not have a current rabies vaccination letter on file, you will need to provide a copy of the latest rabies vaccination certificate from your vet. (A scan or legible picture of it from your phone works for uploading for online orders. If you have any trouble uploading it, feel free to email to townclerk@wenhamma.gov or mail it to us at 138 Main St. and we'll update the rabies certificate expiration date.)

If your dog has passed away, we're so sorry! Please let us know at townclerk@wenhamma.gov so we can update the database.

Having current dog tags isn't just the law, it protects all our dogs--if they get loose (like mine does from time to time!), they can be identified by the Animal Control Officer and we can be sure they are up to date with rabies vaccinations.

State Regulations

All dogs six months and older shall be inoculated against rabies and licensed with the Town, as required by Massachusetts General Law Chapter 140, §137.

Dog registration can be completed online or via the Town Clerk’s office with this application.

Wenham Bylaw Chapter XXIII, B sections 2 & 3 explain that the annual license for dogs is valid from January through December.
