2022 Local and State Elections

Election Workers Needed

2022 will be a busy year with Local and State Elections.  The Town Clerk’s Office is looking for interested residents who can work at Local and State Elections.  MGL Chapter 52, section 12 allows for students aged 16 and 17 to work elections.  Community service can be given for hours worked.   Election Workers (check-in) are the frontline of the voting process.  You are charged with processing the voter check-in, using either an electronic poll pad, or paper list, making sure the voter is given the correct ballot, and conduct yourself in a professional manner that ensures fair and impartial elections.  Election Workers are also assigned to assist at the ballot box (tabulator).  This consists of giving the voter the privacy while they process their ballot but also understanding the ballot box/tabulator should there be issues.  Election Workers may also be asked to assist with the counting/tallying of the election at the end of the night.  This requires patience, able to work in an intense situation, while working with others to capture the number of votes cast.  We are happy to have volunteers, but we are also willing to pay an hourly rate.  You are not expected to work every election - and the schedule is very flexible.    If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Town Clerk Trudy Reid at treid@wenhamma.gov

Based on the 2020 Federal Census, Wenham will be split between two State Representatives, the 6th Essex District (with Beverly) and the 13th Essex District (with Danvers and parts of Topsfield, Middleton, and Peabody).   This will not impact Wenham's Annual (local) elections.  As we move into 2022, please check back here for updates on the sub-precincts.

UPDATE:  At the Select Board meeting held on December 7th, they voted to keep the one precinct for Wenham, with sub-precicnts for State Elections.
