The function of the Treasurer/Tax Collector is to receive and take charge for all money belonging to the Town and to pay over and account for the same according to the order of the Town or of its authorized officers. The Treasurer/Collector is the only person who may pay the bills of the Town's Departments. The Treasurer/Collector also is responsible for the collection of taxes, accounts receivable and water bills. During the past year, the Assessors completed a comprehensive revaluation of all properties in Wenham. This was the first such revaluation since FY2015 and resulted in an assessed increase of $64,550 for a median priced home, and a tax rate of $18.02 for FY19, vs. $18.79 in FY18. This translates to an increase of approximately $771 in taxes for a median value home, 41% of which is attributable to the school override passed last April.
