Board of Selectmen Policy for Mailbox Damage


TOWN OF WENHAM
MAILBOX DAMAGE DUE TO WINTER PLOWING



The Wenham Board of Selectmen voted unanimously, at their September 17, 2002 meeting, to establish the following policy:

In the event of mailbox damage due to snow plowing, on mailboxes that are properly installed outside of the public right-of-way, the Town will either replace the mailbox or offer a comparable cash reimbursement to the homeowner. In either the installation or cash reimbursement scenario, the Town will only authorize the use of a standard, government issue mailbox, and any valid reimbursement requests will be based on the value of said mailbox style. No exceptions will be made for damaged mailboxes that have a higher value.

All claims must be filed with the Wenham Highway Department within 30 days of the incident.
