Board of Selectmen
The Board of Selectmen serves as the chief
executive of the Town and has general supervision over all matters not
assigned by statute or by-law to other Town officers. In
addition, the Board has the authority to appoint various officers and
boards and to investigate the conduct and operation of Town
departments. The Board may hold hearings and summon witnesses,
appoint town counsel, and institute, prosecute and/or defend any
actions to which the Town is a party. The Board of Selectmen
exercises control over all real estate or property of the Town that is
not under the care of any other particular board or department
authority, acts as the "licensing authority" of the Town, and has
various financial duties. The Selectmen hold regular public
meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month.
